Fire station. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries on the second floor of a two-story apartment 6, in Sovetskaya Street (former Pavlovskaya) near the Red Square, now occupied by an Emergency Medical Service, used to be the Duma of Pereslavl. The first floor facilities were occupied by a fire station. At that time the building was topped with a fire tower. Upon seeing signs of a fire, a duty attendant sounded the alarm bell. The town's buildings were mainly built of wood, so fire prevention was given special attention. According to records of those days, the fire station of Pereslavl had 6 horses, 4 hand pumps, 4 barrels, ladders and other inventory. The fire brigade consisted of 6 persons, but in case of emergency the town could rely upon 300 people more who volunteered for fire fighting.
