The Museum of Steam Engines
Pereslavl region, Talitsy village
Working hours: 10.00–18.00
Closed on Monday and Tuesday
This private museum, frequently called “the museum of engineering” or “the narrow-gauge railway museum,” is in the village of Talitsy, about 15 km from the town. It was founded on the narrow-gauge railway tracks laid down in the 1930s to serve for peat extraction in the Pereslavl Region. The exhibits, among which you will find steam locomotives, machines, section cars of the last 19th to early 20th centuries, were collected from all over Russia. Here you can become familiar with the old principles of railway operations, have a seat in the rail cars of olden days and take a short trip on a narrow-gauge railway.
